Canadian artist, Tory Lanez, recently this past week released his new album “Chixtape 5”.  Since December of 2015, Lanez has put out a series of musical projects named “Chixtapes”.   In the series he uses song samples from old 2000s classics, then he remixes them into a new contemporary sound. And to make it more nostalgic and unique, he incorporates skits and phone calls throughout to create a storyline, similar to how artists did back in the day.

Chixtape 5 is the true definition of a modern 2000s RnB album.  The project includes over 10 samples from popular songs in the 2000s, bringing back a different time in RnB music.  These samples include songs such as ̈ Can’t Help but Wait¨” by Trey songz, ̈Foolish ̈ by Ashanti, and ̈Beautiful ̈ by Snoop Dogg ft. Pharell and Charlie Wilson.  Fans and listeners have expressed that this is the best tape yet out of the series. Due to Lanez bringing the original artist into his remixed versions of their own songs has left listeners in a frenzy.

Many artists, old and new, have been on this trend of remaking early 2000s music. But, Tory Lanez has proved to the world and himself that his talent of singing, rapping, and producing is unmatched to others.  Fans and listeners are excited and hopeful of what will come next from Lanez.
