Since the young age of three Alexes Nnenna Onyeyiri has been on the field scoring goals from left to right.  Alexes, the Conway Jr. High soccer team player, is still on the field going strong with a total of eleven years playing.  Whether it is a club or school team, Onyeyiri hasn’t stopped. But playing for her goes much deeper than the game itself, it’s a part of her.

Growing up Onyeyiri was surrounded by a love for soccer. Staring from her dad and his family down to her and her brother. Majority of her dad’s side of the family are huge soccer fanatics. They love playing the sport equally as much as they love watching it. But while I wouldn’t necessarily say that she eats, sleeps, and breathes soccer, it is obviously clear that it plays a special role in her life.

Though it may not seem like it, like many Onyeyiri has faced some challenges playing soccer. One of them is due to her parents jobs and business which makes it difficult at times for them to take her to practices and games. Because of this she feels the need to work harder. “I always have to be in my A-game and work 2xs as everyone else at the practices and games”, she says. She does this because she doesn’t want her coaches to think that she is slacking off and wants to let them know that she is committed as much as she can.

The game never stops for Alexes Onyeyiri, she is constantly out there working hard and giving it her all. Like many, the sport is a part of her. She states,“If i ever stopped playing it would take a huge toll on me”. Adding on she wishes to be able to keep playing all the way to college and even thinks about coaching in the future.
