Pineapple Definitely Belongs On Pizza
November 15, 2022
Americans love their pizza. After the first pizzeria opened in New York City, the love of pizza spread like wildfire throughout the country. No matter where you are, you never have to travel far to find a pizza place as it seems like they are around every corner. It is estimated that Americans consume a staggering 350 slices of pizza PER SECOND. No matter what it is, anytime something is loved very strongly, people are equally as strongly opinionated about it. The same can be said for pizza. Each person seems to have their own likes and dislikes about various things on the pizza such as crust, how much sauce, etc. However, the main disagreements about pizza typically come when dealing with the specific toppings on the pizza. Whether it’s pepperoni, plain cheese, sausage, or supreme, everyone has their personal opinion. There is one topping however that people are especially opinionated about. Pineapple. Some think pineapple is the best pizza topping of all time, while others think it is disgusting to even think about putting pineapple on a pizza. I am here to tell you that pineapple definitely does belong on pizza, and one of my reasons may surprise you. To start, I have found that most people who despise pineapple on pizza haven’t even tried it for themselves. How can you judge the food choice so harshly if you haven’t even tried it? A reason that I think makes pineapple go well on pizza is that people naturally like combinations of sweet and salty. Sweet and salty things always seem to pair surprisingly well together just like they do in things such as chocolate-covered pretzels, trail mix, or even the bizarre, yet good, combination of dipping fries in a frosty/ice cream. The sweetness of the pineapples mixed with the savory crust, cheese, and sauce make for a great combination. A reason you may find surprising as to why you should put pineapples on your pizza is the health benefits you get from doing so. Pineapples contain antioxidant manganese and Vitamin C which help boost our immune systems. So not only does it pair well with pizza, it provides health benefits when you eat it which people don’t think about. I do believe that pineapple belongs on pizza and you should never judge something until you try it for yourself, so next time you grab some pizza, consider getting pineapple on your pizza. After all, you never know, it could be your new favorite pizza topping.

I agree with Mr Terrell. Also, this article is very easy to read, but it’s filled with great information. Good job Hudson

I wholeheartedly agree, Hudson. It’s a great pairing with ham and cheddar cheese.
