Conway High School’s forensics and debate team hosted their very first tournament during the weekend of September 29th and 30th. This tournament went from Friday afternoon through Saturday night. Eighteen school’s, junior high and high school, attended from across the state of Arkansas, including Cabot, Harber, and Little Rock Central. The tournament offered over thirty different events for students to compete in and included Spanish only speaking events, judged by Conway High School’s assistant principal Ms. Goodknight. The theme of the tournament was classy as it was named the Conway Classy Classic, and on Saturday, debater Natalie Hood and Landon Dew were crowned the Conway Classy Classic Queen and King. Arkansas debaters and forensics competitors enjoyed a packed weekend of competition and fun side quest sponsored by the Arkansas Communication and Theater Arts Association. Harber High School debater Carlos Pancheos, stated, “Y’all’s tournament was great. I’m just so proud of the tournament you pulled together.” The Conway team hopes the Conway Classy Classic can be a staple for Arkansas speech and debate in the years to come.
