The Lady Cats Varsity Volleyball team has reached the middle of their season and has shone and dominated the whole season. They have an impressive record of 20-3 and have a 15-game winning streak, and they are also 1st in the 6a Conference. Their last loss was a month ago vs. the Brookland Bearcats. The Lady Cats just dominated and won first in gold at the Jonesboro Volleyball Tournament, and we asked varsity player Gray Denton about what players have had a major role on the court this season. She said, “Senior Kim Quinit supports the team on and off the court and leads us to play our best volleyball.” We asked Gray about what it will take for the Lady Cats to stay successful and keep winning the rest of the season, and she said, “I would say playing together and having fun because when we don’t play together and have fun, we stress out over the game, and then you can see us fall apart.” We also asked varsity player Laurel Wells what some changes from last season to this season and what her favorite parts of being on the volleyball team are. She said, ” We have implemented strength training after practice two times a week to get better and ready for game time, and it’s going well even if it’s sometimes difficult.” Laurel also said, ” My favorite part of being on the volleyball team is the community because my teammates and I are as close as family, and I love them a lot.” The Lady Cats look to continue their winning streak, make another trip to the State Playoffs, and hopefully win the State Championship. The Lady Cat’s next game is October 3rd, at 6 p.m., and they play at Cabot High School.
