The Varsity Volleyball Lady Cats have just finished their season. They reached the State Tournament, where they went to the State Championship, where they faced off against Fayetteville. In the games before the championship game, they routed Har-Ber 3-0 and later beat Fort Smith Southside 3-1 in the Semi-Finals. They would play against the Fayetteville Bulldogs in Hot Springs on October 29. It was a riveting and thrilling game, but unfortunately, the Lady Cats lost vs the Bulldogs 3-2. Even though they came up short in the State Championship, they had a very successful season. In the regular season, they went 29-4, which translates to an 88% winning percentage during the regular season. In their conference play, they were undefeated and had a record of 12-0.

However, a lot of their success is due to impressive play from valuable seniors who now have to leave and go on and make important decisions in their lives. When asked about what the seniors brought to the table, Ava Gibson(Junior) said, “ I think our seniors were really good leaders and we will miss their personalities and abilities to play on the court, we did not know that we have the potential to go all of the way and win state know.” It’s a good thing that these seniors were great players and leaders because they built a positive and winning culture for the Lady Cats. Some seniors contributed more on the court, and others contributed more off the court. Laurel Wells( Junior) said, “ On the court, Kim Quinit has by far the biggest presence and effect. She is so encouraging to everyone and leads the team even during our hardest practices. She is loud and communicates with everyone on the court, and I can trust her to do anything and play any role. Off the court, Ella White has the biggest presence and effect in my opinion. She makes sure to build relationships with just about everyone on the team, and is one of the most kindhearted people I know.”

The Lady Cats Varsity Volleyball team looks to build upon their success from this season. The graduating seniors have left their mark on this team and will be missed on and off the court. It goes without a doubt that losing these seniors is a blow to the Lady Cats, but they will apply what these seniors have taught them. Current juniors, sophomores, and freshmen will be expected to play at a high level due to the success of this upcoming season.
