Snap, shutter, click. Zion Keer, a senior at Conway High School, is the second generation of photographers in his family. Growing up around two photographers, his mother and father, he quickly fell in love with the art of photography from a young age but has relatively recently began practicing the art himself. Beginning his sophomore year, he began Conway High’s photography program. He stated the photography program is what made him fall in love with photography again and seriously consider it as a career. “I grew up around photography, both my parents are photographers, but I realized I wanted to pursue it when I took the class here at school,” he stated. Keer’s favorite subject of photography is currently candid portraiture and still life. “I typically like to take candid portraits and still life photos because they’re both typically pretty ordinary, and I enjoy that I can usually make those moments more special.” Keer not only indulges in photography as a hobby but has also turned it into a career. As a high school student, he currently shoots weddings as well as senior portraits. He not only wants to pursue it as a career now but also in the future. Keer hopes that he can become a professional photographer and support himself by doing the thing he loves most.
