17-year-old CHS student Brooklyn Butler recently discovered her passion in life.
In hopes of raising her ACT score, Butler attended an ACT Academy at the U of A. She claims her time at the academy “was an educational experience” that led her to discover her career path. Butler was seated by a girl in the class and ended up creating a bond with her. With the short time between lectures, the two would get to know each other and talk about each other’s recent gossip. Soon the conversation turned to their future plans. Butler had no idea what she wanted to do in the future, so her new friend sparked a flame. Because she enjoys learning about current events and is always updated with gossip, the classmate suggested that Butler should think about running and owning a magazine. Butler loved the idea and found great interest in pursuing it.
She says that it was helpful for someone else to bring it to her. “If it weren’t for the girl sitting next to me in class, I would’ve never found my passion for journalism,” said Butler. Butler plans to leave Arkansas after high school and wants to attend the University of California in Los Angeles. She wants to major in business to follow her dreams of owning a magazine.
