17-year-old Aaron Isakson has a lot of free time on his hands and uses it to play video games.
During COVID, he didn’t know what to do except sit and watch reels so he started watching more YouTube videos. While watching YouTube, he found a gaming creator named PewdiePie, who helped him seek interest in video games. He wanted to have fun just like PewdiePie did, so he started to follow and watch PewdiePie increasingly and play the games he did.
Isakson says his favorite video game is Rainbow Six Siege. For non-gamers, Rainbow Siege is a game about 1st person shooting, and defending or attacking the bombing range. Isakson says the reason why his favorite game is Rainbow Six Siege is because it’s a strategic game. “You have to have skill and patience to play the game and to understand the best strategies,” he said.
While Rainbow Six Siege is Isakson’s favorite game, on the other hand, Fortnite is his least favorite game. Despite it also being a shooting game, where the goal is to attack the opposite teams, he claims he doesn’t like Fortnite because he’s not that good at it and it’s too mechanical, which makes him not want to play.
Since he doesn’t play soccer anymore video games have taken most of his free time, before and after school. He plays 1-3 hours a day before and after dinner and also before bed.
Isakson said, “Video games are something to do in your free time if you don’t have anything to do. You can play with friends and family which can make you more connected as a group.” Isakson also said, “Video games can be very addicting so you have to have control and tell yourself to stop when you start playing for so long.”
