The Conway Varsity Lady Cats Golf finished their season with 2nd in Conference and went on to attend the Girls State Conference at home the week of September 30 where they finished 3rd in State. One of the key players for the Lady Cats team was Senior Tori Worley. Worley performed her best at state and shot a 79. There are many challenges to overcome in golf both physical and mental. “I would say that I overcame the mental challenges that come with golf over the years and now it’s more enjoyable,” Worley said.
The Lady Cats performed well at the Conference and State this season and they look to repeat this success next year. Their shortcomings this year will motivate them to build on their success this year and chase a Conference and State championship next year.
The Conway Varsity Boys Golf finished their season with their conference and state tournaments. The Golf team placed last at State in Benton the week of October 7. One of the leaders of this team was Senior Noah Ryan. Ryan performed his best at the Long Hills Golf Course in Benton, where he shot a 79. It’s hard to be successful in any sport, especially in golf. “It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and taking no days off,” he said. Ryan’s favorite part of being on the golf team is the bus rides coming back from tournaments.
The Varsity Boys didn’t perform well this year, but there is hope for the future. They have an excellent golfer in Sophomore Laken Silkwood, who will only improve over time and grow to be not only a great golfer but also a great leader for this golf team.
