I don’t hate many people but one person that I absolutely can not stand is Jason Bradley DeFord, otherwise known as Jelly Roll. Jelly Roll is a Country, HipHop, Rap singer. His style of music is what one could call, whinny outlaw country. He is 39 years old. This singer songwriter is from Antioch Tennessee. He has this specific type of voice that is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Some of his most popular songs include, Save me, Son of a Sinner, I am Not ok, and Wild Ones. His voice is very whiny and gross. In all of his songs he drags out notes that shouldn’t be dragged out. Any time I hear one of his songs playing it boils my blood.
Another reason I do not like him is the way he looks. Jelly Roll is covered in tattoos including all over his face. He is a very large creepy man. He also is a very hairy person. And he looks like he smells bad. I know for a fact that he does not wear deodorant. Every time I look at him I want to throw up. I would definitely not want to meet him or even be in the same room with him.
Jelly Roll comes from a troubled past and he has done a lot of things that I don’t align with including his views. Before coming into the music sense, he has been to jail over 40 times for drug charges. Jelly Roll was in jail while his daughter was born because he was in possession of cocaine. However he seems to be doing a lot better now which is good for him.
Jelly Roll shouldn’t have his platform because he doesn’t have the voice, he doesn’t have the looks, and all he has going for him is his story. The only reason people like him is because they like the redemptive nature of his troubled past, but that doesn’t have anything to do with music or entertainment. Criminal turned singer, which would be cool if he could actually sing. I think lately anyone could become famous, and I think that goes to show with Jelly Roll.
