The Conway Wampus Cats take on the Bryant Hornets this Friday November 8 at Bryant Stadium starting at 7 pm.
The game is ranked 6th nationally and is highly anticipated as both teams are currently undefeated and playing for the conference championship. The last time Conway and Bryant played, the Bryant Hornets came up on top during a thrilling game with record attendance. With the rivalry dating back to 1998 Bryant leads with a record of 18-8.
Head Wampus Cat Buck James previously coached at Bryant for seven years before coming to Conway in 2023 and leading Conway to the semi-finals. “I feel confident that our guys will play as hard as they can and play with the most discipline as possible,” James said. He and the team are motivated as ever coming off the loss last year, and winning this game is something he plans on achieving. “We’re better, more physical, we just have to play at a level these guys are playing at,” he said.
A win in this rivalry game would make history. Coach James was pleased to learn CHS is bringing a pep bus which will leave at 5:30. The theme is White-Out, and all students are encouraged to come support the Cats for this critical game.
