With the start of the 2024 volleyball season for the Lady Cats, a vital new addition was made to the team. Conway Athletics hired a new strength and conditioning coach, Coach Jordan, to help create workouts and get the athletes in shape for their respective seasons.
Head Coach Laura Crow believes the intensity changed with the addition of Coach Jordan. “I feel like Coach Jordan is very knowledgeable in the field of strength training and it has definitely benefited our team. He is able to design workouts for the athletes that allow them to excel at different points throughout the year depending on where you are at in your season/off-season. I have seen our athletes grow both mentally and physically in the weight room this season. The workouts helped with injury prevention throughout our season and allowed us to push through some tough situations in matches,” she said.
Junior Haven Sellers feels that working out with Coach Jordan affected the volleyball season’s outcome positively. “I think it just made us stronger overall. Our verticals have gotten better, we’re stronger at the net with blocks and hitting, and it has improved our endurance. I think we also grew closer as a team as we encouraged each other to finish the set and all struggled together.”
Senior Madden Cabantac played a big role in the Lady Cat’s season. She states, “The environment encourages hard work because you are surrounded by many other athletes and teams. The shared space while working out was encouragement in itself knowing that there were others working hard with you! Coach Jordan would often play music that would keep us hyped. The workouts were very challenging, but also team building. It created good team bonding and great memories.”
Coach Jordan has been an outstanding addition to the Conway Athletics staff and has benefitted Conway teams, especially volleyball.
