In recent years, the Lady Cats have been terrific as their past two seasons have resulted in a state championship and a state championship runner-up to Central. With success comes great expectations, so naturally, the Lady Cats had high expectations for this season. The Lady Cats are 6A Central Conference Champions this year, which is their 4th Conference Championship in a row. One of the biggest strengths of this team is their defense, and their ability to generate turnovers is unmatched. Additionally, this team can shoot the ball very well from behind the three-point line. Conway can kill you in all phases of basketball and this makes them the team to beat. One of the best players for the Lady Cats is senior guard Samyah Jordan. She said that what makes this team good is “our chemistry with each other as our chemistry is good both on and off the court.” With another state championship, the Conway Lady Cats have the potential to become a dynasty in Arkansas Basketball.
Conway Varsity Boys Basketball is bouncing back from a disappointing ‘23-’24 season with their new head coach, Ben Lindsey. Coach Lindsey was a legendary head coach at Magnolia as he led the Panthers to two state championships and five conference titles. What makes this team’s future so bright is their sophomores. Four sophomores have been starters and have played a critical role in their season’s success. These sophomores are Zae Patrick, KJ Johnson, Jamal Holden, and Elijah Collum. “We have a lot of sophomores and juniors, so we are a young team and we are always improving,” KJ Johnson said. The Varsity Boys are in the 6A State tournament and are looking to get some momentum heading into the playoffs. Overall, Conway Varsity Boys Basketball is exceeding expectations in their first year with Coach Lindsey, and the future is looking bright for Conway Varsity Boys Basketball.
