Sophomore Ransom Fassett is truly what a wampus cat stands for. He strives towards a bright future by working towards it. “I was always taught that school is my job, all that fun comes after work, not before,” Fassett says. He is always working hard and doing his best to help others around him. Fassett always strives to be the best person and student he can be. Even if the extra dedication to his classwork takes away from his hobbies outside of school.
But just because the fun comes later doesn’t mean he misses out outside of school. He mentions, “Outside of my general nerdiness, I’m a country boy, I love to hunt, fish, watch baseball, hike about the woods, and see the great outdoors we’ve been gifted.” Fassett’s love for the outdoors extends to running track for the school team.
When he is not in the woods or on the track, he works on his own website, which combines a game and a simulator for stock market training. “I mean for it to both entertain and teach about the strategy- and the dangers- of trading stocks,” Fassett states. His inspiration began in 5th grade, in a Gifted and Talented class where they played a stock trading game with fake money. Noticing its flaws, Fassett wanted to improve stock market education. He notes, “With a website or app, you literally start with nothing, so I love to try and make something.”
Fassett is a great addition to the high school and contributes much through academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities. He looks forward to getting his license so he can drive to his own events and attend even more. Fassett supports the school through his academic and athletic achievements, taking pride in representing the high school in everything he does.
