Conway High School Orchestra had their third to last concert January 17. This was the full orchestra concert that also had the band and choir joining them for the event. Full orchestra is a new thing, they only have been doing it for four years. “It was Mrs. Fournier’s idea to combine choir, band and orchestra together for a concert, so she created that.” says a orchestra student, Najeé Fletcher.

They had to practice after school so band could practice with them since they couldn’t during school. The band only had one person on each part, adding more pressure on them. If they messed up one note everyone knows, unlike orchestra where there are more people in your section so that will cover you up. “It’s basically like a solo for the whole concert” says Fletcher.

There were many soloist in the concert. Two senior solos were featured, Will Ward on the cello playing the Elgar’s Concerto,  his solo being the first movement, and Gale Oudekirk on violin playing Stravinsky Concerto. Other soloists were Sharneta Campbell on clarinet, Emily Owen on Flute, and Riley Parker on bass clarinet. The choir joined them on Testament of Freedom.

Orchestra will have contest and then spring senior night concert for their last shows.
