Football Season Over, Basketball Begins

The Wampus Cat football team finished their season 8-4, making it the 5 winning season in a row. After the cats’ playoff loss in the semifinals on November 27th, the boys and girls basketball teams have played six games total.

The boys basketball team were state champions of the 2019-2020 season, and hope to continue their success. The girls basketball team went 20-8 and lost in the state semifinals to a very tough Bentonville team. The cats will officially start conference play on January 5th when they take on Little Rock Southwest.

When asked about the start of conference, Kalayna King, a junior for the Lady Cats, said “I’m super excited to start conference, but I’m mostly focused on us as a team getting better in the next two games before conference to prepare for it. I think as long as we continue to develop and play together we will have a really successful season and hopefully be state champions!” Both teams have really high expectations for the upcoming season, and the student body is excited to support them on the journey to the state championship.
