Sophomore Kyee Smith has loved horses ever since she was a kid: “I have always had a love and a passion for horses and rodeos so that kind of started everything. I have been riding horses for about 10 years now. I’ve met a lot of amazing people and made lots of friends and many good memories.” Rodeo has been a big part of Kylee’s life, from barrel racing to goat tying and more. Each event is something Kylee has strived to be better at every time she’s out riding. She loves rodeos and everything that comes with it but there are some challenges, “One challenge I had was getting started in the rodeo community and learning to compete in multiple events. I’ve also been bucked off way too many times to count, and it doesn’t always end well.” Kylee has had a long and fun past with rodeos and excitingly wants to continue. “I plan on doing college rodeo and I hope to continue on after that. I compete in multiple different events and I hope to compete in even more events.” When asking Kylee what advice she would give to a person interested in the rodeo committee she says, “Horseback riding takes a lot of time and effort, and it’s not always easy, but in the end just have fun with it. You are gonna meet lots of great people and make a lot of fun memories.”
