As basketball season has come to an end, tryouts for the Conway High School Varsity Cheer are quickly approaching. Cheer is unique in the sense that it isn’t limited to one season. The girls begin practice in late July, and cheer until mid-March. They can be seen on the sidelines at events such as football games, volleyball games, basketball games, and they also compete at the 6A State Cheer Competition. The 2020-2021 Varsity Cheer team faced numerous challenges with Covid-19, and made many adjustments this year. This included: social distancing on the sidelines, wearing masks for the majority of games, limited traveling to away games, not having pep rallies, and not hosting their mini wampus cat cheer clinic. 

However, looking ahead, Head Coach Cindy Brown and Assistant Coach Jessica Smolsky are hopeful. They have already begun working hard in preparation for the new season, and have created numerous goals and expectations for the year, which begins with tryouts. Tryouts for the CHS Varsity Cheer team will be held Monday, March 29th through Thursday, April 1st in Buzz Bolding Arena.
