Students Encouraged to Explore Health Care Class Options
March 29, 2021
At Conway High School, many classes, clubs, and extracurriculars are offered to prepare students for a career in the medical field. Students can take basic courses, such as Foundations of Health Care, where students will learn things like proper first aid, CPR, how to check vital signs, emergency care, wellness and nutrition, safety precautions, and various other categories that will prepare students for the medical world. Furthermore, students can take classes such as Medical Terminology, Pathology, and Anatomy and Physiology to give students the opportunity to advance their interest in a career in the medical field. Upon completion of Foundations of Health Care and certain other medical courses, upperclassmen have the opportunity to take classes such as First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, and Patient Care Technician. These classes will teach students valuable information about real world medical situations, and will permit students to obtain a license in either patient care or emergency medical training. With such licensures, students can begin working in the medical field immediately after graduating high school, or even while still in high school. In addition, Conway High offers a club called Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) that provides students with many opportunities to get involved within the medical field, and even offers a national competition in which students can showcase their skills and talents related to the medical field. If students are even the slightest bit interested in a career in the medical field, Conway High School has many opportunities for students to further explore their interest.

What a wonderful piece explaining medical training opportunities offered through the Conway School District! Is there any further use to these classes for those not looking to go directly into the medical field, or those who just wish to broaden their experience without being locked into a career path?
