The CHS band had their senior night during the Conway vs. Bryant game on Friday, November 5th. The crowd watched with excitement as the senior band students were individually recognized, met with their parents, and given their senior hats. The CHS band has upheld the tradition of senior hats since the 1980s. Typically, the parents of the seniors create a hat that represents their child’s personality and interests for them to wear during the halftime show. The parents present the hat to their child before the halftime show as a surprise and gift of appreciation. CHS band’s last halftime show, “Out of the Blue,” was a success. The crowd especially loved it when the band played “Mr. Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra as their show’s third and final part. After the game came to an unfortunate loss for Conway, many band students began to shed tears for all of the fantastic seniors they will miss during next year’s marching season. Senior and flute section leader, Holden Clark, says, “Make sure to carry on our traditions when we leave, and next year you’ll be even better.”
