“Uniforms in school?”

There has been the argument of if kids should have to wear uniforms at school for a while. Some schools make you wear uniforms, others don’t. Most private schools have uniforms that you have to wear, while most public schools let you wear your own clothes. In my opinion, kids should not have to wear uniforms at school.

I think that kids should be able to wear whatever they want as long as it is appropriate for school. One reason why kids should be able to wear their own clothes is because of individuality. If everyone wore the same clothes, kids wouldn’t be able to express themselves and their interests. When you wear your own clothes, you get to show off your personality. However, when you wear uniforms, kids don’t get to express themselves, and show how everyone has different and unique interests. When kids all wear uniforms it can get kind of bland. When everyone wears the same thing, it isn’t as interesting. Most kids like to show off their clothes, and have other people notice them. If everyone wore the same, kids couldn’t show off their new clothes. Someone could argue that uniforms make everyone equal, and that some kids just want to be the same as everyone else. This argument doesn’t work because being different is a good thing, and kids should want to show off their own interests instead of just being like others.

Another reason why kids should be able to wear their own clothes is because of decision making skills. When a child has no choice on what they want to wear, they don’t have to make decisions. Decision making is a big factor in one’s life. If kids have good decision making it can help them out a ton when they get older. I have to decide what clothes to wear everyday, and it helps me with my decision making skills. When a child doesn’t learn good decision making, they could lack that in the future and it could severely affect their career. Good decision making will lead to good career choices. Someone could argue that making kids make decisions could cause them stress. This argument doesn’t work because learning good decision making when you’re young will relieve stress when kids get older.

Wearing uniforms in schools has some pros and some cons. However, there are more cons to making children wear uniforms than benefits. Kids should not have to wear uniforms at school.
