Most everyone knows about the influx of the “running girly.” The girl on your For You Page with the matching set, perfect hair, and a bright pair of Hokas. This trend has taken the world, including Conway High School, by storm. As the rise of Hokas emerges, the question arises: are they really worth it? Hokas, specifically the Bondi 8 style, typically sell at around $165. Chloe Mahan, a cross-country runner, says they are worth it. “I like Hokas because they are comfy and bright, and they match any outfit.” Kenzie Myers, a junior, says she loves her Hokas. Others, like Emersyn Marshall, say Hokas are not worth the price. Marshall, a senior this year, says her Hokas broke within a month of having them. Sydney Philips, a junior, agrees saying, “They are comfy, but it’s not like ‘oh I need ten pairs of these’.” Overall, the opinions are split almost even, but the student body tends to lead toward the not-worth-it side. Another shoe brand, Oncloud came into conversation. Myers and Philips both prefer Oncloud over Hoka. But what makes them different? Chloe Mahan says the bright colors of the Hokas add more personality to an outfit, and that the Onclouds could be a bit basic. Philips counters this, saying since Oncloud is more simple, they can go with more. People who want the “running girly” look have a tough choice to make.
