Last Month, professional Cellist Andrei Ionitsӑ visited the Conway High School Orchestra. He performed some music for the students and spoke to the students about what it’s like to play music all over the world as well as how to manage performance anxiety and maintain a healthy practice schedule. The students elaborated on what they most appreciated about the experience. “I loved watching him play in general. Seeing him play difficult pieces with ease was just very satisfying,” Senior Conor Moyer said. The students also gave details on Ionitsӑ himself. “He was extremely talented but even more humble,” Barrett Carter, who is a senior, said. Finally, the students also spoke about how much they learned from Mr Ionitsӑ and what they could take away from this experience with Ionitsӑ. “I learned about how much hard work and commitment it takes to immerse yourself in music,” Moyer said. Ionitsӑ has many performances coming up in the spring of 2025. Some as close as St. Louis, some as far as Germany and Romania. This experience of having him talk to CHS orchestra student has them learn more about how a passion can become a career and help orchestra students with future concerts.
