Conway Cross Country Boys and Girls competed at the Falcon Run Invitational August 29 at Maumelle Charter.

The senior high girls took an early lead with Senior Lilli King blazing and keeping the leading pace for the majority of the race and finished 2nd with a time of 24:00. Four Lady Cats placed in the top 20, and solid times from the rest of the team led to the Conway Varsity Girls finishing 2nd out of 7 attending teams.  Sophomore Analise Benton admires the team’s dedication.  “I love that the cross country team is so determined and tries their hardest to get the best times they can,” she said.

In the senior boys race, Senior Max Henry took the lead and held it the whole race and finished in 1st with a time of 18:03. Dylan Massey also got a top 5 score for the Wampus Cats. They had 5 Wampus Cats finish in the top twenty; these solid finishes led to a second place finish out of six teams. Henry said he was proud of the team’s strong start. “I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with my teammates.”

The Cats run again at War Memorial September 9.
