Senior and sophomore Annaleigh Thomason and Olivia Lee are two iconic swimmers who both have big goals of success for the upcoming swim season. Thomason and Lee have been swimming for a combined number of twenty-one years, and they’re not planning on stopping soon. Although both swimmers have complained about the difficulties of the start of the season, they are determined to make it one of the best yet.
Lee has had to adjust back into swimming since she did not do club swim throughout the summer. Thomason has goals to cut down her breaststroke time by practicing hard so she can speed through her events. While Lee talked about cutting down time on her one hundred free, “…last year I went from a 29 to a 26, so we’re gonna try to get that down to a 25 this year.” With both Lee and Thomason having done swimming for so many years, the progress has most definitely been shown, and all the hard work that these swimmers have put in has paid off tremendously.
Although there have been hard times, hard meets, hard practices, and just hard days, the two can rely on each other. When asked about who Thomason and Lee lean on the most when they have a hard practice, or just need some encouragement, they both answered by saying each other. This illustrates that having a strong friendship with teammates can truly make a difference in their swimming. It is without a doubt that both Thomason and Lee will be there for each other and lift each other up throughout the whole swim season. As Thomason cuts time off of her breaststroke, and Lee her one hundred free. Because of all their hard work they’ve been putting in, they will fly through their events, making this swim season at Conway High School truly one of the best ones yet.

It is refreshing to read a story that talks about the partnership between teammates though the main focus is always the team as a whole . Stories like this are enjoyable because they also look at the goals of student athletes so I would enjoy to see more like this !
