Gamers Excited for RE2 Remake

Gamers Excited for RE2 Remake

Micky Hernandez, Staff Writer

Gamers are more excited than ever for the new Resident Evil 2 remake. Resident Evil was first released in 1996 and was well received and known as the first few mainstream horror video games. Resident Evil was notorious for having some of the worst dialogue in gaming history.

Two sequels were released, Resident Evil 2 in 1998 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in 1999. Both were praised for their gameplay. Then in 2005 Resident Evil 4 was released although although it was a little more action-centered than its last three games, it was widely loved by Resident Evil fans alike. The next two games in the series had forgotten their roots and both took a full nose dive into action. To no surprise Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 were greatly hated for not being horror games anymore. All hope had seemed lost for the Resident Evil series until, Resident Evil 7 in 2017. Resident Evil 7 was the RE game that had redeemed the series. It had reverted back to its roots in survival horror.

Finally gamers have a remake of debatably, one of the best games in the series. RE 2 will be the first game in the series to have a remake. Similarly, the original Resident Evil had a remaster in 2002 and Resident Evil 4 had an HD remaster in 2016.  RE 2 has already had a one shot demo, where you had 30 minutes to play through as much of the game as you could. Resident Evil 2 has had stellar review from fans and critics. Older fans of the series will feel nothing, but pure nostalgia from seeing places like the police station to the underground lab. Familiar faces like Mr. X and William the sewer gator will most definitely make appearances.
