Homecoming Court: Where Royalty Reigns and Memories are Made

Brooklyn Ferguson’s Mom

If you are not totally aware of what a homecoming court is, it can help to start with the tradition of homecoming itself. Homecoming is an annual event that includes a school dance and football game, but it can also include a variety of school spirit activities and parades. It’s a way to reunite and welcome students back, encourage school spirit, and create fun memories. It’s one of those, ‘you’ve got to experience it to understand it kind of things.’

The homecoming court is chosen by the students, and they are asked to appoint girls who have proven to inspire, lead, and be genuinely good people. It is a great honor to be chosen, and this year we have such an amazing group of students representing this school, it is going to be amazing. Ellen Kenderick, one of the junior maids, said, “I am so honored to be able to represent my class. I am so thankful the school chose me for such an amazing opportunity.”

When asked what she was most excited about, sophomore Adalyn Lamey says, “I am so excited to wear all the fun dresses and outfits.” All of the students are eager to be able to watch and see what outfits the maids will wear. Furthermore, everyone is excited to see all the fun and different looks they will pull off.

Senior maid, Brooklyn Ferguson, has been on court all three years, which is an outstanding honor. She says, “I love being able to represent my volleyball team and my class overall.” Ferguson also says that she has got to meet so many unique and fun people in her 3 years on court who she will have for the rest of her life! As our annual tradition allows, the homecoming queen will be chosen. It ignites a thrill in the class body to see who will win this, I think any of the incredible senior maids who win are completely deserving. Homecoming court is such a fun way to recognize and celebrate peers on their outstanding characteristics!

Think this is a good prospective of homecoming court. I sometimes feel that many think the people pick are based of popularity and this helps people see it’s more about the person’s character seen by their peers.
