At 11 years old, I thought I understood what love meant. Turns out, I was only just beginning to understand myself. As you grow up, your parents are the first to teach you how to speak, walk, and so on. But throughout life, different people teach you different lessons. Lessons that shape you into the person you are today. Love is one of the biggest lessons for me. It’s a beautiful thing, yet it brings so much conflict, either with someone else or yourself.
Most students from ages 10 to 15 come across their first love, or should I say lesson? I was 11 when I met the boy who changed my perspective on something that was supposed to be pure. Yes, we were only kids who didn’t really know what love was, other than the love from a parent. But they were real feelings we both faced. In the relationship, I learned things about my mind and someone else’s. Despite the blissful love in a relationship, there will almost always be conflicts. I personally learned how to communicate, deal with my own feelings, and realized I was too young to understand love.
Being in a high school relationship isn’t worth it. Despite your stress on assignments, you still have to make time for a relationship. Even if you’re falling behind in your classes, you still have a relationship that’s sinking to save. While trying to maintain yourself and another human being, it starts to feel like a chore. A chore you dread to do, the chore you put last on your list.
Still, despite the experience I had in my first relationship. I’m grateful for it. Love, even when it ends, teaches you something, and I think that’s the most beautiful part of it all. You had the opportunity to understand, care, and love another soul while taking care of yourself.
Love, especially when you’re young, isn’t always forever. But that lesson you learned is going to help you in the future. Love teaches you who you are, what you value, and how you want to be treated. My first love may have faded, but the lessons I learned from my experience shaped me into the person I am today. Love is beautiful, but the most meaningful thing about it is that it helps you grow.

I like this because it tells about how love In highschool is really a lesson you learn because all you’ve ever been taught growing up is the innocent love from a parent. This is deep and makes you think about it in your life and if you’ve had a love lesson in highschool with real feelings, you can relate to this post on the same level.

This piece is beautiful, and quite inspiring. I love the words, and in the future you could even expand the depth on what factors make a relationship heavy/stressful.

This piece is so beautiful and serves as a perfect reminder to learn and consider that at the end of the day, we’re all just highschool students. I would love to see more about highschool friendships and how we learn from each other as students.

I agree love can be difficult and beautiful at the same time. You have good writing skills and I think you should write more about your thoughts on dating in high-school.

It’s like you literally read my mind…super creepy but crazy relatable and layered. You should expand on the different types of love and how they effect others. Awesome job!!
