The Conway Orchestra performed their annual “La Fiesta Orquesta” Taco Supper Concert on Thursday, October 30th at James H. Clark Auditorium. In addition to raising funds for the program, the purpose of this concert is to showcase the talent of different orchestras across the Conway Public School District.
The highlight of the evening was when senior Ann Al-Uraiby performed a dance solo in accompaniment to the world premiere of Chloe’s Tango by composer Bud Woodruff. Since this was her final taco supper performance ever, it was very important to her. She was especially proud of how the orchestra sounded while she was dancing. “Getting out of the violin section and being in front of the orchestra is a completely different experience and I can hear the orchestra a lot better as a whole,” she said. Junior London Maness adds, “I like how it brings people together and her solo was a visual representation of our music. The music was very expressive and it was difficult at first, but the more we played it, the better we got and we got to express the feelings in the music to the audience.”
The orchestra celebrated their performance the next day, October 31st, by studying the music for their next performance, which is their annual Symphonic concert. This is set to take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Sophomore Lydia McGhee said, “I look forward to having the band and choir with us because we are the only school in Arkansas to do a concert with all three.”
