Grace United Methodist Church on the west side of Conway has a very unique Wednesday service. Instead of being just a day for youth to get together and learn a little more about God, it is also home to a weekly free dinner cooked by the Applewhite family, avid church-goers and lovers of Christ. This weekly event, known as G-Meal, is a day for anyone who wants a wonderful dinner to come and eat for free. “We are the only place in Conway where you can receive a completely free meal on a Wednesday!”, Applewhite says. G-meal has been going on for a while, but the Applewhite family has been in charge for the past three years. The Applewhite family buys the food on their own with financial help from donations. They are always looking for more help with said donations, according to Applewhite.

When asked if they are looking to expand G-Meal beyond Grace United Methodist Church, Applewhite responded with, “We have collaborated with other churches and organizations like the Bethlehem house to bring a portion of our food to them.” Currently, there are no plans for making G-Meal a full non-profit organization, but we can certainly hope for it in the future! G-Meal is doing wonderful things by feeding people from all around Conway. The food is great, but the people make it perfect. G-Meal is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a new church, if you need food, or if you’re just looking to meet new people!
